This is the first book I’ve read by this author but it won’t be my last. I’m only writing this review because I feel so strongly about these stories. This is some of the best I’ve read. This three full length emotional, heartbreaking stories. I cannot stress enough how these stories brought out so many feeling in me. The characters are well developed. I felt I knew them. The stories flow so smoothly that I hated to stop reading. I felt sad when the stories ended because I felt I’d miss these guys. The downside is I’m from a neighboring state to Omaha, Nebraska so I have to say I’m doing this even though I feel strongly that his author’s feeling only represent her hate of this location. This really causes me mixed thoughts. I really like her writing but dislike her opinion about Omaha. Lucky for her I enjoy reading more than I dislike a difference in opinions and feel her book is well worth reading.Product details

Three A Collection of Gay Ménage Romances edition by LA Witt Romance eBooks Reviews
These three stories were written well, dialogue flowed naturally, characters well-defined...but for me, it was a day where I didn't particularly want to read about angst. There's a lot of angst in these stories and I was in sun-shine mood. The stories dragged me down. Sorry.
I couldn’t get into the book after finishing chapter 6 of the first book. I got annoyed with the way they thought of (I can’t remember his name). It made Me feel like a piece of meat and that’s just disgusting. I’m deleting this from my .
I've only read the 1st book in this collection. OUT OF FOCUS (https//www./dp/B06XKXYVJR/ref=dp-kindle-redirect?_encoding=UTF8&btkr=1Out of Focus*
The characters jumped off the page, the writing was flawless, and gripping.
This is the first I've read of LA Witt - but will definitely look for more from her.
(The other two blurbs didn't appeal to me - but the author's style is FABULOUS, so I"m sure they're wonderful as well. There are just certain topics I shy away from.)
I love everything this author writes, and when I saw Three and realized I hadn't read any of the stories in this collection, I grabbed it. As always, the tales are heartfelt, emotional, and terribly romantic with characters that feel absolutely real. At a time when my spouse and I are in the process of selling our home and moving, THREE was the perfect escape from reality that I needed.
I liked all three of these short stories but the very last one really truly moved me. That storyline of someone being so afraid to be in a relationship kinda struck a chord on me. While I haven't experienced the same things Michael did, I know the feeling of having your brain manipulated into believing lies about yourself because people have told you them so many times it has to be true. I love how he and Josh and Ian were able to form this bond between the three of them. While it might not be conventional or acceptable in mainstream society, it worked for them and it helped him heal. This was such a beautifully written story of polyamorous love.
There's a saying that you should 'write what you know.' However, as every author knows, if you only did that, all your stories would be about folding laundry and yelling at your kids. In this case, we have a female author writing about gay threesomes. Since I'm not a gay man, I can't really determine whether she did justice to that point of view, but I do know gay men, and I appreciated that she didn't jump into the stereotypes that plague gay men.
The good All three stories had a different set-up, as to how they become a threesome, though there are similarities--a married couple, who, for one reason or another, bring in a third. There wasn't huge character development, but the characters were well-written. The sex scenes were pretty tasteful--I've read much raunchier stuff. The writing was great, free of errors, articulate, and the plot moved at a good pace.
The so-so The author has an over-fondness for the word 'slurred.' I get why she used it, but every time a sex scene came out, I found myself playing a little game, where I tried to guess which participant was going to slur first. The characters could have used more development. As mentioned above, I like that these were just people, who happened to be gay and into threesomes, and not some over-the-top cliche, but sometimes I couldn't remember which was the blond and which was the brunette.
The bad You'd think stories about a so-in-love-after-all-these-years, married couple bringing in a new sex partner would be filled with drama. That there would be jealousy and misunderstandings and feelings of being left out. And, while these things are sort of explored, all three stories are resolved by a rational, calm discussion between the three men, during which they all three express themselves clearly and openly. It's not only unrealistic, it's boring. There are a lot of instances of missed drama actually. ***MINOR SPOILERS**** Abusive ex? Never makes an appearance. Live-in ex, who won't leave? Makes a few sarcastic comments, then accepts defeat. Rock star tempted by another man? Maybe for thirty seconds, then he just resists and moves on.
It's a shame, because I feel like this author has some real talent, but, for some reason, she can't stand to have her characters act badly or get into too terrible of a situation. You can still like a character, even when they aren't a goody-two-shoes (Dexter, anyone?), and even goody-two-shoes can do or say things they regret. One of the stories is more dramatic than the other two, but ***SPOILER*** it turns out there are mental issues involved, and, once everyone gets drugs and therapy, they have a rational, reasonable discussion, and everything is fine.
Overall, if you like reading about nice people discovering how to make a gay, threesome work, with a minimum of fuss or muss, you will greatly enjoy these stories.
Out of Focus, 3.5 stars. Good plot, good characters. Alas, had that annoying problem of inferior communication skills in the established couple. The passive third re his personal life was teeth-grittingly annoying.
Hiatus, 1 star. Slow. So very slow. God, the resistance to getting help got old.
What He Left Behind might have won more than 3 stars, but until the experiment begins, it is intolerably slow and repetitive to the point where I skimmed. And then it was still a little like that, but not nearly so bad. I guess it was an attempt to show trepidation and seriousness? Once the action starts it's pretty good.
The word polyamory has existed since the late '90s. When I started living poly, it didn't exist. But now it does. I wish more authors would write characters able to use the internet and willing to do a little research. Or put them in places where that isn't an option, at least. This fumbling through sh*t that's pretty easy to find help for is outdated.
